Advanced Internet Marketing Tactic: Test to Remove Obstacles to Conversion

By Howie Jacobson

Your website visitors will convert - to buyers or subscribers - when they're ready, willing, and able. And the usability testing and feedback gathering you do should give you an idea of which of those three factors will make the biggest difference.

Ready: Are your visitors ready to take the action you want them to take? Do they have enough information? Enough trust in you? If not, what do you need to add to your site flow to make offers congruent with your visitors' current state of readiness?

Willing: Do they want to take the action you want them to take? Have you explained the benefits? Have you done the cost-benefit analysis for them? Have you made it clear how you're different and better than their other options?

Able: Can they take that action on your site? Can they find the right links and buttons? Does everything work? Do pages load quickly enough to keep their attention? Is it easy to navigate your site, or do you need to offer a training course to users?

Then Test: Start with simple curiosity. For example, ask yourself "Where should the BUY button go, here or there?" Then create two versions of the page. Use Google's website optimizer to run the test. (It's free - and really easy.)

Send some traffic to each version, and you'll discover one of two things:
1. One version is clearly superior to the other.
2. There's not much difference - which means that the element you were testing doesn't matter very much, or that the differences were too small to affect visitor behavior.

Either way, you've learned something. Wash, rinse, and repeat, and soon you'll have a landing page that contributes mightily to your bottom line.

Does Your Website Have All 8 Types of Backlinks?

There are many different ways to get backlinks. This article will discuss 8 of the most common ways to get backlinks. It will also discuss which types of links are most effective.

Do not give up on reciprocal links. They still have value. The ease of obtaining these links make them less effective than other types of backlinks but they have some value and they're not "dead" like so many people claim. These are 2-way links that happen when webmasters agree to link to each other's sites.

Social bookmarking links are also of little value. Getting social bookmarking links is a good way to get a new post or page indexed. However you cannot rely upon just social bookmarking links if you want to rank well for highly competitive terms. If you look in your website's Cpanel under the AWSTATS interface you'll see that social bookmarking links are in a special category separate from other types of links because they are devalued links.

One-way links are more powerful links. However, do not stop at only getting incoming links. Keep your outgoing links and incoming links in balance or it will be an unnatural flow of traffic at your site. Most of the time though this is not a problem because affiliate marketers are out-linking to affiliate programs anyways.

Blog commenting for backlinks seems to be a very popular method because it is a free method for getting backlinks from relevant sites. However, these types of links aren't very valuable either, especially on blog with the NoFollow attribute set on those sites. There is still some value to blog commenting for backlinks but if you analyze your return on investment on the time it takes to get these links versus the value of those efforts you'll see that this is a time-sucking effort that usually isn't worth your time.

Three way links or 3 way links are a hybrid of reciprocal links and one way links . These types of services are usually only good for getting links to low-competition keywords, key-phrases, and niche topics. Nonetheless, you can add about 50 sites to these networks and get backlinks to all your sites automatically with 3 way links services. This is a pretty good deal for webmasters with a portfolio of mini-sites for low competition terms. Most 3 way link building services require you link out to other sites in order to get links. These are non-reciprocal from other sites in the 3 way linkbuilding service's network. If the network is full of quality sites, then there is decent value to this automated link building. Watch though because in most cases, you lose all your links if you cancel your membership.

Many SEO bloggers claim that these types of links are ineffective and they are 100% wrong! Footer links are links at the bottom of sites that link to other sites. Footer links at the bottom of blogs often link to the site that made the freeWordPress theme. Many of those WordPress theme sites attain high Page Rank in very little time.WordPress plugins work the same way. One marketer uses his links in the footer of the Master Resell Rights Websites he sells Each and every one of those sites and sales pages that people link to his main site. Now you know how he got to be on page 2 for the term "make money online". Enough said. Footer links work well when people do not change them. Just pay attention to the links on your own site.

I think that paid links are an extreme waste of money. Paid links are links that you pay for in order to get some high Page Rank and relevant links back to your site for your chosen keywords. They are usually very costly. Worse yet, they are not permanent. They only last as long as your membership fees with that company is paying for those links. A far better idea is to pay a lesser fee each month for a linkbuilding service like http://internethomebusinessreviews.org/unique-article-wizard-review Unique Article Wizard because they deliver quality and permanent one way links in quantity.
