The marketer's primary job is to understand the mechanics of sales and marketing. He must know all the details - and pay attention to them.



The pusher's primary job is to be pushy. He must be goal-oriented and willing to take on the responsibility of making the thinker and marketer do their jobs.



In an ideal world, every new business would be launched by three people: a thinker, a marketer, and a pusher.



But in most cases, new businesses are started by one or two people. And that means one person must do the work of two or three.



You might have a good marketer who is a so-so idea man and is trying to run the business himself. Or a talented product developer who partners with a good marketer but has no one to do the day-to-day pushing. I know of one business that has neither a good marketer nor a good idea person. It gets by - barely - but only because its CEO keeps pushing inexperienced people to make mostly mediocre efforts.

Do not get too anxious. I know there have been countless marketers claiming to have made millions in months or some actually have and have shown proof. But you need to crawl before you can walk. Do not go for keywords that are too competitive because there will be so many sites that have strong rankings like authority sites that have been around for years. Google ranks sites based on a number of factors like the age of the site, keywords (of course), and backlinks.

Putting together a business plan can seem like a daunting task. In order to do a thorough job, you must take your time with each of the different components. One of the most important components of a business plan is the market analysis. The market analysis section of your business plan will help you understand the domain in which you plan to operate. More importantly, it will also help potential investors see that you know your market and have a plan that can work within its context. The following information will help you prepare this critical piece of your business plan.

Identify Target Markets

Preparing a market analysis begins with thinking about who your prospective customers are. Some of the factors to consider when deciding who will be included in your target market include:

- Demographics such as age and sex, race or ethnicity, levels of education and income - Geographical location - Personality traits, attitudes, preferences and needs - Shopping habits such as frequency, loyalty and likeliness to purchase online

When identifying target markets, it is important to define a realistic and proper span. If your market analysis focuses on too extensive a segment, it may be difficult to reach (or prove you can reach) all consumers within it effectively. On the other hand, if your defined target market is too narrow, you may not be able to generate enough business to be profitable.

Getting Started

In your market analysis, it is important to be thorough and to describe your methodology for defining your target market. A good way to start is to ask yourself "who will potentially be a consumer of my goods and/or services?" Saying "everyone" will be too broad and make your job of narrowing down your focus more difficult. Instead, consider your potential market. This is the total number of people who could buy from your business. For example, if your concept is a local flower shop, your potential market might be anyone within an eight-mile radius. Perhaps you also include organizations such as churches and businesses that might have a regular need for flower delivery.

Finally, you etch out your target market from the addressable market. Identify who within your addressable market is likely to buy from you based on demographics, geographical limitations, personality traits and attitudes and consumer habits.

Though the competitive analysis section of a business plan typically follows the market analysis, it is a good idea to perform your competitive analysis before setting your target market in stone. This can help you define a target market that is actually attainable.

One Meta Tag You Should Use Carefully - Description Tag

There is only one meta tag that most search engines use - the description tag. It is not commonly used for SEO ranking purposes, but it is normally used (including by Google) as the text on the search results listing.

The content of the description tag is used more often than not by Google when it displays the results pages for a keyword. It uses only the first 156 characters though so make sure if you are using it to check the length of the text. If you do not check the length your text will be truncated and it will look funny.

Microsoft Word has a great tool that will allow you to check the text length very quickly. This tool is visible on the status bar at the bottom of the page. To use it select the text you want to control the length and then double click on the word count statistics box.

All meta tags should be at the start of the page inside the head tags.

Google is a little scallywag when it comes to using or not using the meta description tag. When it does use it you can have full control of what is exposed to prospective visitors but it will often change what it uses at will with sometimes it just picking up a piece of text from your page.

How To Earn Money Online Surely And Steadily With Affiliate Marketing

To those reading this article, I assume you have a basic knowledge of affiliate marketing, what it is and how it works. When I first started out, I used www.clickbank.com mostly.

Networks such as www.clickbank.com keep out bad vendors and help by processing the payments so you get your percentage of each sale.

You can also find other companies that have their own affiliate programs. Be sure though to examine their affiliate programs so you don't get bad surprises!

You'll want a payment schedule and threshold that is fair and that you can live with. It's also great if you can have hands-on help and support as you are picking affiliates to partner with.

Those new to internet marketing can have a difficult time because they don't have a big list they can sell things to and market to. To give a good start you could consider to make a review site and through that get peoples emails by offering free ebooks and/or offering a marketing email course.

This was an easy way for me to get started and learn the basics and I think you'll find it will work for you too if you aren't already using this model.

A review site is a one page website that has a review of an affiliate product. To do this effectively you should actually purchase the product and use it and then write an original review.

Don't just rewrite a review written by somebody else. Make it as personal as possible and include your own results using the program. Your review will have much more credibility that way.

If you'd like, you can include more than one review on the page. For example, I like to have a review of my #1 favorite product in that category and then include 2-4 runner ups and include reviews for those as well.

I set a goal to create 10 of these review sites per month. It took me about 40 hours per month to create those sites. After you create one review site you have a template you can use and it goes much faster.

Then I spent about 10 hours per month marketing the older sites in the forums and other social media plus creating ad campaigns.

My expenses were $10/month for hosting for all of the sites and $8 or so for each individual domain. My marketing expenses, including purchase of the products I reviewed and ad campaigns, were $700-1000 per month.

My profit after expenses, was $4000 each month, which works out to $67 per hour. Not too many jobs pay that much money and I achieved that level in a very short time.

5 Tips To Launching An Online Business

If you are interested in starting your own online business, you should do some research first. Online businesses are a great opportunity, and can lead to great success. But like every business, there are risks involved. Don't jump into something without knowing what you are getting into. People who start something up impulsively usually don't succeed. These are some tips to help you along. It's a starting point to what will hopefully be a very fruitful endeavor for you.

1: Optimize your website for search engines. Many shoppers do not go past the first page of results in a search engine, and almost none go beyond the second. If you are not near the top of the Google results for your type of business, no one will be able to find you. Consider hiring an experienced consultant to optimize your website for you. However, research search engine optimization before hiring someone. You will want to have a very clear understanding of what they will do for your site, without getting lost in confusing technical jargon.

2: You have to be able to wait. You can't go into any type of business and expect to become a millionaire overnight. It does happen, but it happens so rarely that it is almost impossible. If you get frustrated easily and don't like to stick to things without quick results, don't even pursue it. It takes a long time for most businesses to get up and running efficiently, much less turning a huge profit. If you break even at first, that's success.

3: By education, I don't mean you need to go to school before you start up (even though this would be helpful). I mean you should do your research. Do it thoroughly! Don't just glance around at a few tip articles like this and decide you are ready to go. You should know very well what you are getting into and what it takes. This will keep your head above water should something unexpected arise. If you learn everything you need to know, you wont be taken off-guard.

4: You should know what product or service you want to sell before starting. The best thing to do is figure out what you would think would go over well for the demographics in your area. Then expand from there. If it will work well demographically for you, then will it work well in larger areas? Is this product something that people will want or need? If so, will they want or need more than one? Will they need to buy the product several times from you? Write all these things down, and make an educated decision.

5: Perform SEO, or search engine optimization on your site to increase your presence on the web. The majority of buyers will visit websites that appear on the first three pages of search engine results. You can hire a professional or do this yourself. Link or associate yourself with complimentary services to maximize exposure and ensure your success online.

All you really need to know is that if you do your research, know your product will work, have the time and determination, then it could be great for you. You should also be ready for disappointment, as well. The most important thing is, be sure to make a solid, educated decision before starting your online business.

8 Secrets to Fill Your Business in 60 Days

Recently I was asked in an interview to imagine that I was starting all over again, and as a newbie, how I would fill my business in 60 days. Things have changed tremendously since I began my online business in 1999, mostly for the better. Most of the steps, however remain the same. Best of all, the strategies I recommend to fill your business are the same ones that can be applied to any business, and then applied again and again to other online ventures. Here are 8 secrets to filling the prospect funnel in your business in 60 days:


1. Success mind set. Don’t gloss over this strategy — it may be the most important of all. If you truly want to succeed in your business and are passionate about what you do, nothing will hold you back. This often means that you have to step out in faith that you’ll succeed, and most importantly, believe in yourself as a success. Sure, you may stumble, or even fall, but you must be willing to pick yourself back up and persevere — even without a safety net hanging under you.


2. Target market. The biggest mistake that business owners make is wanting to sell to everyone. If you’ve tried this, you have no doubt discovered that casting your net around everyone is a very difficult task. Narrowing that group to a more manageable number will actually serve you much better, believe it or not. If you can identify a smaller group of hungry prospects who are willing to pay for the solutions to the problems that keep them awake at night (or those who are willing to pay for more information about a hobby or interest that occupies much of their free time) AND who are reachable in groups (associations, membership sites, magazines, newsletters, discussion forums or lists, social networking groups, etc.), then you have made a key discovery that will catapult your business forward.


3. Client Attraction Device. You’ve heard it said time and time again that “the money is in the list.” This still holds true today, as well. Without a list of interested prospects to whom you can market, you don’t have a business. The quickest way to begin to develop a list is to give something away. Yes, you heard me correctly. If you have content you have already created, dig through that to see if you have something appropriate for your chosen target market.


If not, identify a problem of your target market, and create some content that answers one of those problems. Perhaps it’s a checklist, a Top 10 list, an ebook or special report, an audio interview, a pod cast, a video — do whatever is easiest for you. Just ensure that it is in a plug and play format , i.e. don’t make your prospect download some weird software that’s not commonplace to read and view this material.


Make sure that your Client Attraction Device has some valuable content in it. Nothing is more frustrating to me than to read a free giveway that only serves to remind me that I have a problem and offers no solution unless I pay for it. Don’t be afraid to demonstrate your expertise by giving “how to” information away. Trust me, if you are truly good at what you do, there’s no way that you can share everything you know on a topic in one short information product. Your Client Attraction Device starts your prospects on the like, know, and trust road that is imperative for them to travel before they will decide to buy something from you.


4. Email marketing system. You must have some way to collect your prospect’s information and a system by which you can stay in contact with them. The best way to do this is by purchasing email marketing services. Do not use a free service for this, nor try to send emails out of your Outlook program. If you want to be a serous online business owner, invest in the most important asset in your business — your email marketing system.


5. Blogsite. A blogsite, which is a web site/blog hybrid, is the quickest way to build an online presence. The two most popular blogging platforms, the fee-based Typepad and open source software Wordpress, can be used to create a blogsite very quickly. If you want either of them customized with a particular look or feel, that may take a bit longer and require a greater investment. However, either will work well to get you started, and both will permit you to enter your email marketing system’s signup code onto a page so that you can immediately begin to collect contact information from prospects who have requested your Client Attraction Device.


6. Stay in touch. Whether you do this by submitting regular blog posts or publishing an email newsletter (or both), you need to reach out and touch your prospects at least weekly (or several times a week if you are blogging). Give them some insights about what’s happening with you personally as well as sharing some aspect of your expertise with them by creating a content-rich article or answering their questions. And, don’t forget to sell — offer some product or service in each email newsletter, or submit regular blog posts that remind your readers about what you are selling.


7. Social networking. Never before have we had the opportunity to connect with others online easily and inexpensively as we do now with social networking. Create profiles on the social networks) used by your target market, do research to add friends/followers in your target market, and use the status updates to be useful to your followers, i.e. by sharing resources, asking questions, and updating them about how you help clients/customers.


8. Drive traffic to your site. There are a number of ways to accomplish this, but my favorite starts with writing an article. Once it’s written, I publish it in my ezine, my blog, and to my web site and syndicate it on article directories all over the Web. Then I have the option of making a pod cast with the content; creating a screencast video or “talking head” video from it; writing and submitting a press release; creating a teleclass; create a Q&A radio show interview opportunity; breaking up the points as separate Twitter posts, or Tweets, and tweeting them to my followers; or sharing it on my Squidoo lens or other information-sharing portals. The point here is to work once and profit, profit, profit. Repurpose one article as many ways as you can to drive traffic back to your blogsite and thus get more and more prospects to sign up on your list and ultimately convert them to customers.


The advent of the Internet makes it easier than every to create and promote a business online with very little startup capital. And, if done correctly, the strategies will results in you filling your business in 60 days with eager and willing prospects ready to buy what you are offering.

Are You Ready To Start An Online Business?

If you would like to be a bit more secure financially, you may have considered starting some kind of online business. However before you commit yourself to beginning an online income-generating activity or before you give up the idea, it is useful to consider whether it would be the right step for you to take by examining a few important points.

I have been engaged in several online businesses for close to ten years, and based on this experience I would like to present you with three important factors that you should think about before making a decision of whether or not to go ahead with an online business.

1. How much time could you spare for your online work? Don't expect to just open a website and watch the money pours into your bank account without a stitch of effort on your part. There is no such business like that in the world. Even very profitable activities require some amount of work. Examine your current routine and consider how much time you could actually devote to online work. In case you are wondering how much time is necessary, here is a way to make your calculations. The actual amount of time necessary depends on what kind of business it is and what your income needs or expectations are. Let's say you are able to work two hors a day, or about 45 hours per month. If this activity is able to bring in $45 for each hour worked then you could expect a gross income of about $2000 per month. That may not seem like much, but if you already have other income it could come in handy. Or, if that is not enough, maybe you could work more.

2. What do you have to offer online? Before you start calculating your income you have to think about the kind of business that you could possibly run. An easy way to start an online business is to extend an existing "real world" business to the Internet. If you run a retail store, then set up a website and you can extend your reach. Another way to conduct online business is to offer some kind of service that can be delivered digitally or by e-mail. Writers, designers and artists can get into an online business by setting up a website or simply by soliciting work on free-lancer sites or by answering online classified advertisements. If you don't have any physical products or digital services to sell there is another route to online entrepreneurship. Write an information product based on some area of your knowledge and expertise. Turn your knowledge into an e-book, a digital report or an online course and then sell that product online. Many online businesses have been started in this way.

3. Do you have the necessary online business skills? You don't have to go back to school and get a degree but it is helpful to pick up a few skills if you are going to conduct business online. From my experience, it is good to know how to edit web pages. You don't have to know how to design them but it is important to know how to update them. In addition to that, it is useful to have a grasp of the basics of Internet marketing, and by this I am thinking of search engine optimization, pay per click advertising, and article marketing. These three tools can help you to greatly expand your online reach and it is worth learning the basics in this field.

These are some of the things that you have to think about before starting any kind of online business. Take a close look at them, and if you have a good feeling, then go ahead and try your hand at online business.

There is an added benefit to selling digital products because the buyer pays by credit card rather than through PayPal and it is easy for the buyer to forget they are still getting charged for memberships. There is no doubt that Ebay remains the largest online presence for selling physical products.

Promoting MLM programs is where a lot of people find themselves trying to make their full-time incomes. The reason this type of program is so popular is because they usually have training calls to attend, and even a support center, but the real reason people flock to programs like Web Prosperity is because they realize they only have time to focus on and work on one program. People are busy enough as it is without trying to promote multiple programs all at once.

Similar to MLM types of programs are one-up and two-up programs. But they have more of a return on the investment people make when they promote them. However these programs tend to over price or inflate the value of their products so they can give big commissions to their affiliates. The plus side of this is that it is one of the fastest ways to reach a significant residual income. However, it is wise to read home business about these one-up or two-up programs to get a better idea of how valid each one is.

Flipping virtual real estate is another way to reach a sizable monthly income. The downside to this business model is that you are running a high-maintenance business whereby you're required to build new sites constantly and to sell new sites constantly. The plus-side to this business model is that it can be automated, if you know what types of sites to build, what types of sites consistently sell, and also to learn how to build sites that you retain to for a long period of time before selling for extremely large sums of money.
